I am young enough to remember the launch of the Yamaha XS 750 in 1976 Morocco I think it was, where all the journalists sampled delights of this new triple.
When pitted against the BMW R75 of the time, the general opinion was that the Yamaha trumped the Beemer on all counts, sophistication smoothness and general touring ability.
I hadn’t ridden one of these for awhile but was pleasantly surprised when I tested this example. Think Triumph Trident but smoother, shaft drive and without the oil leaks!
This particular bike is in time warp condition showing just 7784 miles from brand new when it was picked up from Coburn and Hughes in 1976.
I don’t know if this is genuine but my own opinion is that it is probably correct given the overall condition of the motorcycle.
This is a UK bike with the logbook showing just two previous owners.
The silver paintwork is original.
The bike rides just as well as it looks and is a very affordable entry into big capacity classic motorcycling.
